Two Men Face Charges Over Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Assault
Formal charges have been brought against two men following a luggage theft where a substance thought to be irritant spray led to people being hurt at the UK's busiest airport.
Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, now face two counts of robbery and charges for administering a noxious substance, according to official statements.
These accusations come after an investigation into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal Three on the weekend. Before the assault occurred, two women were robbed of their suitcases stolen after exiting a parking garage elevator, police said.
A young child was among those injured in the event. Several persons were taken to a medical facility and were later discharged.
The incident – described by police as was isolated and not considered a terror-related act – led to disruptions to rail services and the temporary blocking of the main airport road tunnel and the T3 parking area for a brief period.
