Homages Continue for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Remain Under Wraps.
Well beyond 14 days following the shocking loss of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues persist in remembering the pair.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he only now felt prepared to post publicly about his deep grief.
"Sufficient time has passed that I can at last articulate my loss into words," posted Elwes, saying that his first meeting with Reiner left him smitten. "As we began sharing more moments together I knew this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor posted never-before-seen clips from the production, adding that he cannot recall "a single day without laughter".
"This story is about affection, allegiance and giving. Values that Rob valued immensely. This is one of the many reasons he was the perfect person to guide it," Elwes continued.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, stating: "Asserting that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He ended with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Fellow Artist
In a different tribute, legendary director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the main character.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked beautifully with his co-stars, and he grasped the human predicament of his character," Scorsese added.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Withheld
This week, a Los Angeles superior court judge decided to block the publication of the Reiners' autopsy reports, following a petition from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A judicial mandate put a restriction on the investigation to limit the public release of "any investigative information, notes, reports or photos" connected to the ongoing investigation.
The relevant authority had earlier stated their deaths were the consequence of foul play, with a official listing citing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Aftermath and Reactions
In the wake of the deaths, public figures offered different comments.
Ex-President Donald Trump posted on the matter, providing controversial statements that were met with immediate backlash by many commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his criticism to the critics recently. Talking on his show, Rogan characterized the comments as "disturbing" and remarked they revealed a concerning absence of compassion.
Rogan ended by proposing that an adviser ought to have intervened when the impulse to weigh in on the passing was made.
