Franchise leads Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will return for the latest Hunger Games series movie, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
It has been confirmed that fan-favorite actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear once again in the latest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. Production is currently underway.
A Significant Return to Panem
The duo will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, respectively. It is believed their cameos will likely occur in a future-set scene, given that the original saga concluded with their characters settled into family life.
This marks the sixth film in the global Hunger Games franchise.
The Source Material
Sunrise on the Reaping is based upon a 2025 novel by series creator Suzanne Collins. It acts as the follow-up prequel after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Once again is Francis Lawrence, who has helmed nearly all the previous films in the series.
The Storyline and Fresh Faces
The film's story are set in the years leading up to the first Hunger Games, centering on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, destined to become Katniss's mentor, is featured as a tribute in the notorious 50th Hunger Games.
The supporting roles feature several prominent actors in important characters:
- Jesse Plemons is playing Plutarch Heavensbee.
- Ralph Fiennes takes on the part of a younger version of the calculating President Snow.
